Given that kefir has been around for over 2000 years, it should come as no surprise that we dig ancient foods. From pomegranates to beer and wine, many of the foods we enjoy today date back to our earliest ancestors – including our favorite holiday flavor – gingerbread!

Originally, the word “gingerbread” referred to preserved ginger, but was later used to describe variations of spice breads popular in France and Germany. Nordic countries took to baking ginger biscuits and decorating them with glaze and candy – and various countries around the world are known to cut the biscuits into shapes from houses to ornaments to the famous gingerbread man.
